Announcing the latest recipient for the Free Speech But award!

Judge Hendrik Steenhuis, of the Netherlands, was the presiding judge over a three-member panel hearing the hate speech case against Dutch politician Geert Wilders. The justices found Wilders guilty of “insulting a group”.
“Freedom of speech is one of the foundations of our democratic society…[but] freedom of speech can be limited, for example to protect the rights and freedoms of others, and that is what this case is about.”

“The United States could do a thorough job of destruction, but Israel alone can do what’s necessary. Such action should be combined with vigorous American support for Iran’s opposition, aimed at regime change in Tehran.”

Trump Speaks?

Chris Wallace hosted the 3rd debate today.

 .

“After years of neglect, our administration will take a strong stand to stiffen the protection of our borders. We will increase border controls by 50 percent. We will increase inspections to prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants. And my first day in office, I will sign an executive order to deny federal contracts to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.”

“Let me be very clear about this: We are still a nation of immigrants; we should be proud of it. We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new citizen. But we are also a nation of laws.”

Standard, boilerplate Trump, right? Wrong. Those are Bill Clinton’s words (adapted slightly), in a speech from his 1996 State of the Union speech.

“After years of neglect, this administration has taken a strong stand to stiffen the protection of our borders. We are increasing border controls by 50 percent. We are increasing inspections to prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants. And tonight, I announce I will sign an executive order to deny federal contracts to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.”

“Let me be very clear about this: We are still a nation of immigrants; we should be proud of it. We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new citizen. But we are also a nation of laws.”
